In April 2012, I am embarking on an epic fundraising adventure – the Marathon de Paris on behalf of the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). The NBCF is an organisation that works to raise funds for breast cancer research and I have chosen to undertake this challenge as I am a breast cancer survivor and it is research that gives me hope for the future.

As part of Team Pink, myself and one other team member have been training very hard to get fit enough to cope with all a marathon entails. However, this is not just an exercise in getting fit – I also see this whole challenge as an opportunity to do something worthwhile for an organisation I greatly believe in.

Together, we are hoping to raise over $20,000 for the NBCF from this event. There was a third Team Pink member who was to participate in the marathon with us, but sadly she lost her breast cancer battle a few weeks ago. This devastating loss has served to ignite my passion for the cause even further, and I am committed to doing all I can to help NBCF researchers get to their goal of “no more breast cancer deaths by 2030″!

I have personally pledged to raise a minimum of $10,000 for NBCF, but I need your help to reach this target. A tax-deductible donation would be greatly appreciated, and may be made online at my Everyday Hero Fundraising page.

I am also endeavouring to raise my travel costs, which will total approximately $3,831. If you are able to help with a non tax-deductible donation towards this, please contact me via e-mail at info@jenniferreid.com.au.

Thank you for your support, and I look forward to letting you know all about the success of “My Road to Paris Challenge” along the way!

About the National Breast Cancer Foundation:

The National Breast Cancer Foundation is the leading community-funded national organisation in Australia raising money for research into prevention and cure of breast cancer.

Since the NBCF was established in 1994, over $74 million has been awarded to Australian based researchers across every state and territory, to improve the health and wellbeing of those affected by breast cancer.

Research programs funded by the NBCF cover every aspect of breast cancer, from increasing understanding of genetics to providing better treatments and improving ways to support women and their families.

The NBCF relies entirely on corporate and community support to continue its work.
